5th Edition of 10K Grand Challenge by Starmaker Karaoke App to Take Place in June

• INR 53 lakh already won as prize money so far

MUMBAIMay 9, 2018  :  Starmaker Karaoke app introduces the fifth edition of the 10K Grand Challenge where contestants can win about INR 6 lakh prize money. It is an online singing contest held every two months and the last four editions so far have seen almost INR 53 lakhs been given away as prize money. With the rising popularity of music apps, the Starmaker Karaoke app already enjoys a subscription of more than 20 million users in India. The next challenge is scheduled between 16th – 30th June, 2018.

Singing reality shows in India have come a long way. It’s no longer restricted to urban demographics. With contestants from small towns winning big shows, the trend of these reality shows seems to grow stronger with every year. What makes the Starmaker singing contest so appealing is its unobtrusive format. Interested participants can sign in from any place in the world, sing their heart out and stand a chance in the competition. The schedule does not interfere with work, study time, driving a car or logging in at work.

Lesle Lewis says, “The ‘unadulterated’ format of judging is a big appeal of the Starmaker contest. Here contestants are not judged on their appearance, popularity of their showmanship etc. It’s pure talent voting for the most talented voice.” Keeping in mind the diversity of India, there were no language restrictions on chosen songs and to keep it fair to the participants, the fourth edition of the contest had celebrity judges who excelled in different genres of music. Lewis was one of the celebrity judges on the panel of the fourth edition of the 10k challenge.

Popular singer Mamta Sharma of ‘Munni Badnaam hui’ fame, who was also on the panel feels that this is the perfect opportunity for aspiring singers even from remote areas to showcase their talent. “As judges, it was so encouraging and delightful to see the absolute deluge of talent out there. We had participants signing in from far away places, with varied backgrounds and we had a tough time deciding the winner,” observed Mamta. Playback singer, Dilbagh Singh, the other celebrity judge on the panel feels that this trend is here to stay and the participation will only get higher in the coming months. “I see such platforms as perfect springboards for aspiring singers to be in the limelight and kick start their careers. Of course, the prize money is a welcome boost,” said Singh.

The 10K Grand Challenge is unarguably the biggest competition of its kind in the digital space. The fourth edition saw more than 2,00,000 participants and over 60 million votes. The final winners are selected by considering the participants votes as 70% and judges votes as 30% from the final score. The contest witnessed page views of 8 Million+ and social media shares of 490K+.
