COMPUTEX Shows Innovative Smart Applications Across the World InnoVEX Launched In A New Site With Eye-Catching AI and XR Technologies

InnoVEX 2019 kicked off on 29th may, at TWTC Hall 1 with a strong momentum. Startups from 25 countries showcased their world-leading innovative technologies and applications. At the opening ceremony, Premier Su Tseng-chang, Minister of Science and Technology Chen Liang-gee, and John Jorritsma, Mayor of Eindhoven, the Silicon Valley of the Netherlands opened the event with their presence and started the three-day startup activity.

During Premier Su’s opening remark, he said,”InnoVEX demonstrates a variety of innovative technologies, including smart healthcare, green technology and AR, VR applications, and a complete tandem of Taiwan’s upstream and downstream manufacturers to build a startup ecosystem.” Premier Su also thanked the Netherlands and France for their four consecutive years of participation. He was glad to see COMPUTEX and InnoVEX have turned into global platforms as a result of the joint efforts by the Taiwan government and the private sector. After the opening ceremony, Premier Su Tseng-chang, TAITRA Chairman James Huang, TCA Chairman Tung Tzu-hsien and distinguished guests from home and abroad visited  SMEA, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taiwan Tech Arena, Dutch Pavilion, France Pavilion and more.

Synergy of Startup Momentum Across the World: The Netherlands Pavilion Presents The Largest Exhibit and France Shows Its Strong Competence

Every year, InnoVEX is a meetup for startups from around the world. This year, InnoVEX is relocated to TWTC Hall 1 for the first time to scale up with a record number of 467 global startups. In the 11 Country Pavilions at InnoVEX, Hong Kong, Brazil, Hungary, and Portland are first-timers. The Netherlands Trade and Investment Office led 12 startups to present their products and services in the Dutch Pavilion, making it the biggest Pavilion at InnoVEX 2019. At the Dutch Pavilion are all sorts of innovated business models and creative user experiences. The startups include Royal Blue & Orange Trading, a food and beverage platform integrating blockchain technology and Incooling, a chipset cooling system supplier.

For four consecutive years,energysquare has participated in the France Pavilion, showing impressive wireless charger that can charge multiple devices with its unique conduction technology. French AI startup Quantmetry presents its outstanding data-processing technology and AI applications which can be used to determine if there is complication for breast cancer patients by assessing the swollenness of the arm.

AI Is the Global Trend. Taiwan Startups Wowed Everyone

As each individual startup is drawing attention, a trend can be observed—the application of AI across industries, which marks as the focus of innovative technologies around the world. OmniEyes, led by the Ministry of Science and Technology, uses AI technology to collect real-time streetscapes and convert them into location-based data for real-time street view search, real-world navigation, fleet management, smart logistics, dynamic maps and autonomous vehicle maps and so on.

Founded in Tainan, Fun Lead Change Inc. features circular economy and launched its ECOCO Hub Console, a kiosk that can quickly identify recyclable materials including PET bottles, aluminum cans, and PP plastic cups and give users reward points. It encourages the general public to protect the environment. LEAPSY led by XR EXPRESS TAIWAN showcases the first and only AR eyeglasses that are embedded with natural gesture tracking technologies. The glasses integrate the latest thermal imaging, speech recognition and face recognition technologies. The advancements have received rapt attention from international venture capitalists.

“InnoVEX is the largest platform connecting startups and investors in Asia. In the future, InnoVEX will scale up to turn Taiwan into a critical startup hub in the Asia-Pacific region,” announced TAITRA Chairman James Huang. The three-day InnoVEX is more than an exhibition for startups as it also hosts forums, startup competitions, startup tour and matchmaking events.

The InnoVEX forum focuses on how startup hubs can give small countries new possibilities. OurCrowd, the largest VC firm in Israel, Wayra, the VC branch of the largest telecommunication service provider Telefónica, and 500 Startups, a renowned accelerator from Silicon Valley, are invited to share their experiences. The forum offers an excellent opportunity for participants to learn how to formulate new strategic models.

The pitch contest offers US$420,000 for winners. An elite panel of judges is set up from selected VC firms. TAITRA will organize a startup tour to visit Garage+, China Development Financial Holding Corporation, TSMC Museum of Innovation and other signature businesses, VC firms and accelerators in Taiwan, to facilitate closer connections.
