Fujitsu Consulting India enabling internal digital transformation process for Fujitsu

India is expected to play a bigger role in the global operations for Japanese services firm Fujitsu, as more people have seen the effectiveness of remote working in the past year.

Over the past year, the Indian operations have played an important role in enabling the shift that is underway at the technology services company, said Manoj Nair, vice-president, Fujitsu Consulting India. “There is a huge focus on the digital transformation of the company, and how to take it to the next level in terms of operational processes and systems,” he said.

The Indian unit, with over 4,500 people, is working on various areas, systems and process integration to identifying technology areas where it can play a leading role and collaborating with global teams on solving customer problems.

The pandemic has resulted in customers speeding up their digital transformation journeys and Fujitsu Consulting India is working on several different aspects of this. One such is work life shift, or enabling people to work remotely and more securely. The India teams are working very closely with their global counterparts on this, said Nair.

There has also been a slight increase in the work that is now being done out of here. “People understand that remote work can be enabled with the right level of security controls and processes and it can be delivered in a remote environment,” said Nair.

With customers moving to the Cloud and working remotely, Fujitsu is seeing increased adoption of DevOps (practices that combine software development and IT operations) and agile practices for faster delivery and collaboration. This, along with tools to enable remote and collaborative work and security are some of the technology areas where the pandemic has accelerated demand from customers.

Fujitsu is finalising its hiring plans for the year and expects to induct more people with skills in Cloud, data analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence. At the same time, Nair is focusing on upskilling existing employees rather than going to the market for all the skills needed.

Fujitsu Consulting India is a Global Delivery Centre with centres in Pune, Bengaluru, Noida, Chennai and Hyderabad, and enables delivery of services to more than 36 countries.
