Microsoft committed to use resources to support Covid relief efforts in India, says Satya Nadella

Satya Nadella, the India-born CEO of Microsoft said that the company is committed to using its resources to support pandemic relief efforts in India and is partnering with the US chamber of Commerce and Business to provide critical medical supplies to the country.

“We are committed to using our resources to support pandemic relief efforts in India and are mobilizing to address the country’s most urgent needs, partnering across the business community US Chamber to provide critical medical supplies,” Nadella wrote in the microblogging platform Twitter.

Microsoft has raised over $3 million from its employees with a matching grant from the company for the relief and is working with other companies to provide 25000 oxygen concentration devices to healthcare facilities in India, the company said.

Microsoft employs thousands of people in India across its offices in 11 cities including Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Delhi. Microsoft headquarters at Redmond and in India are holding daily crisis management team meetings to firm up plans on how the company can respond to its employees in the crisis. Microsoft president Brad Smith is part of the steering committee at the US Chamber of Commerce and Business to provide India with critical medical relief including oxygen.

“Across the world, we have seen the harrowing images of Covid-19’s impact in India. The entire country is reeling under the devastating impact of the pandemic. Our thoughts are with the millions who are impacted including their relatives living abroad,” wrote Kate Behncken – Vice President and Lead of Microsoft Philanthropies on the Microsoft blog.

“As we witness the impact on friends, co-workers and the broader community, it is clear we can and must help. We are focused on using our technology, skills, resources and voice to assist in the global response,” Behncken wrote.
