5 of the best places for breakfast in Bournemouth according to Google

Sometimes you want to skip the toast and cereal and go for something more indulgent – that someone else has made.

If you’re in the mood for something a little different this bank holiday weekend, here’s our guide to some of the cafes and eateries to try that have top ratings on Google Reviews.

Olive Café

Situated of Poole Hill, Olive Café has a rating of 4.7 out of 5 with a whopping 604 reviews in total.

It is described as an “unassuming” and “easy-going” café that serves “hearty” and traditional breakfast and lunch staples.

Diners can choose from no less than 15 options from cooked breakfasts to the Mediterranean Twist featuring feta, mixed olives, fried egg, fresh tomato and cucumbers served with toast plus a variety of breakfast baps.

The cafe prides itself on its “fresh, clean and friendly atmosphere” and says all of its products are locally sourced. 

Open from 8am to 4pm, seven days a week. 

Zaza Cafe & Kitchen

Located in Old Christchurch Road, Zaza Cafe offers something for everyone with options for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans.

Breakfast is served between 9am and 3pm and dishes include smoked salmon with sourdough bread, mozzarella, honey lemon sauce (optional with any eggs), guacamole and mixed leaves; the British featuring two fried eggs, beef sausage, chips and beans and the Mediterranean comprising tomato, cucumber, friend egg, olives, beef sausage and halloumi.

For those feeling slightly more adventurous, there’s pineapple with roast beef which comes served with sourdough bread, spinach, mushroom, poached or fried egg and hollandaise sauce.  

Leo Cafe

With a 4.7 rating on Google and 260 reviews, Leo Cafe found in Richmond Gardens Shopping Centre is described by one happy customer as serving the “best English breakfast in Bournemouth”. 

Breakfasts are available all day and come served with tea or regular coffee. 

Diners can choose from a full English with eggs, bacon, tomato, mushroom, hash brown, beans and toast; the ‘mini’ breakfast featuring two eggs, bacon, sausage, hash brown, beans and toast, omlettes, smoked salmon and a Croque Madame.

There’s also a vegetarian breakfast of two eggs, halloumi cheese, tomato, mushroom, hashbrown, beans and toast and a gluten free version of eggs, bacon, tomato, mushroom and gluten free toast.

Cafe Boscanova

This popular hangout in Boscombe’s Christchurch Road is described on Google as offering “pancake stacks, veggie and vegan dishes in a buzzy coffee lovers’ venue with a Bohemian vibe.”

One person said: “Easily the best breakfast in Boscombe, if not Dorset. Great quality food, prepared and cooked from scratch – It has an East London atmosphere. The coffee is unlike anywhere else. Treacly in texture and flavour – and it always looks beautiful.”

Open for food from 8am until 3pm, breakfast delights include cocoa and espresso granola which is served with greek yoghurt, fresh and dried banana, overnight oats, crushed avocado on toast, bacon baguette, sausage baguette, mushroom and halloumi baguette and mushroom and avocado baguette. 

On its Facebook page, Cafe Boscanova says: “We use speciality coffee and pride ourselves on serving you quite the best coffee in Dorset.”

Frieda’s Tearoom 

This vintage-inspired tearoom in Stafford Road opens for breakfast from 9am. 

There’s a veritable smorgasbord to choose from including cooked breakfasts to brunches and even a breakfast burrito.

Frieda’s ‘Famous English Breakfast’ features eggs in any style with back bacon, butcher’s sausage, tomatoes, baked beans, mushrooms, and seeded toast.

Vegetarians and vegans can tuck into Frieda’s ‘Greentastic Breakfast’ with eggs in any style, grilled halloumi, spinach, baked beans, mushrooms, tomatoes and seeded toast.

There’s also eggs Benedict or Florentine plus a breakfast burrito filled with bacon and egg, melted cheese, homemade chili jam which comes with hand cut chips.

One review on Google said: “Best breakfast in town. Beautiful little place. If you are in Bournemouth you must go to this place.”
