The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 has recently come to an end, leaving behind a wealth of insights into the telecom industry’s latest trends and key players. Against this backdrop, Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (Ericsson) has taken center stage as the most mentioned company among the top 10 companies in the telecom industry. Twitter influencers fueled the buzz with their conversations, ranking Huawei Technologies Co Ltd (Huawei) and Nokia Corp (Nokia) as close runners-up, reveals the Social Media Analytics Platform of GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.
Smitarani Tripathy, Social Media Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “During the MWC 2023 event, Twitter influencers focused on 5G and its impact on the telecom industry. Their sentiments were largely optimistic about the growing adoption of 5G and its potential to transform industries and stimulate economic growth.”
Ericssion recorded a 84% year-on-year (YoY) rise in Twitter influencer conversations during MWC 2023. Some of the key announcements of Ericsson that fueled influencer discussions were related to Orange’s 5G Standalone (SA) network in Spain powered by Ericsson’s dual mode 5G Core. Ericsson also extended its MoU with MRANTI and DNB to expedite implementation of 5G in Business in Malaysia.
Huawei emerged as the second most mentioned company during MWC 2023, majorly led by the launch of “One 5G Solutions”, which aims to drive all brands to 5G. Influencer discussions also centered around Huawei Mate 50 series, Mate Xs 2 foldable, Nova 10 series, and smartwatches.
Nokia was the third most discussed company with a YoY rise of 23% in influencer conversations during MWC 2023. Nokia unveiled new logo to rebrand itself as a networking and digitalization company, which drove influencer discussions during the event.
Dell Technologies Inc., Qualcomm Incorporated, Deutsche Telekom AG, Xiaomi Inc, Telefonica SA, Motorola Solutions Inc, and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, were the other companies, which featured in the list of top 10 most mentioned telecom companies during the event.
