Hyderabad, India, May 12, 2023: SHRM India, the world’s largest HR organisation has concluded its two-day mega event – ‘SHRMI Tech23 Conference and Expo’ at HICC Novotel, Hyderabad. Scheduled on 11th – 12th May 2023, the conference witnessed a huge gathering of more than 120+ Speakers, 500+ CXOs, and 4000+ HR & Tech Leaders who attended over 60+ Sessions comprising more than 20+ Learning Hours. With the theme ‘Quantum Shift’, the conference explored how technology can enhance the workplace.

The final day of the SHRMTECH23 conference kicked off with an opening keynote from Gautami Tadimalla, an Indian actress, costume designer, and politician. During her session, “Managing Employee Identity Crisis: Winning Options and Resources,” Tadimalla spoke about the many factors that can impact how employees perceive themselves, including feedback from their immediate circle of contacts. She emphasized that in attempting to live up to the ideals of others, employees can often end up with an identity crisis, leading to a work environment where they are misrepresented, misunderstood, and underutilized. Tadimalla highlighted the importance of providing employees with the resources and support they need to develop their own unique identities within the workplace, thereby increasing their sense of belonging and overall job satisfaction.
During the session titled “Flexi-benefits reality check: acing the tightrope,” Smiti Bhatt Deora, Co-founder and COO of Advantage Club, discussed the challenges faced by organizations in providing the best possible benefits to their workforce. While most organizations strive to provide the best benefits, Deora emphasized that it may not always be feasible in terms of time, effort, and sustainability. Additionally, in today’s constantly evolving work environment, employees are always looking for more from their organizations, adding to the challenge. The session explored strategies for achieving a balance between the needs of the organization and the needs of employees while keeping all stakeholders happy. Deora highlighted the importance of being flexible and responsive to employee needs while also ensuring the sustainability of the benefits program.
Anand Shankar, Senior Vice President – Group Human Resources at Tata Group & Director, Tata Management Training Center (TMTC), led an engaging session titled “Developing Future-ready leaders; legacy embracing dynamism.” During the session, Shankar emphasized the importance of technology as an enabler for leadership development in the future. He discussed how organizations can strive for the right balance of a value-centric approach with agile technocentricity to ensure they are future-ready. With the help of technology, Shankar believes that organizations can prepare their leaders to face the challenges of an ever-evolving business landscape and foster a culture of continuous learning and development.
The debate on “The Age of ChatGPT: Hack or Flak” brought together experts from various fields to discuss the growing trend of tech giants unveiling AI-driven search tools to compete for attention. The panel featured Pranjal Sharma, Economic Analyst, Advisor & Author – The Next New, Rajesh Dhuddu
SVP & Global Business Head – Emerging Technology, Tech Mahindra, Rajesh Dhuddu, SVP & Global Business Head of Emerging Technology at Tech Mahindra, and Upasna Nischal, Head of HR India at Fidelity International, Rajan Kalia SHRM Advisor & Co-Founder, Salto Dee Fe, Prithvi Shergill, CEO, entomo & Harshvendra Soin, Global Chief People Officer and Head Marketing, Tech Mahindra. The discussion centered on the potential impact of ChatGPT on the world of work and the differing views surrounding its value and usefulness. While some believe that AI-powered search tools like ChatGPT can greatly enhance productivity and efficiency, others are skeptical and see them as just another deceptive reflection of the web.
On the second day of the conference, a report entitled “HR Systems Blueprint: Maximizing the Data Edge” was presented. The report delves into the challenge of leveraging the vast amounts of data that exist throughout the employee life cycle to make a real impact on organizational performance and the execution of business strategy. With numerous data sets already in existence, the report explores the critical task of determining which data will have the most significant impact.
In the closing keynote of the conference, Sabriye Tenberken, a Tibetologist and Founder of Braille Without Borders & Kanthari, spoke about the importance of using technology to empower individuals to become change agents. She emphasized that while overcoming challenges is certainly an achievement in and of itself, true legends strive to go one step further by consistently leveraging technology to drive social change. According to Tenberken, it is this unwavering commitment to making a positive impact that sets true change agents apart from others.
