Social Media Challenge: Love, Fitness or Food

All along the days of the lockdown, there has been much happening on Social Media with online challenges about Fitness, Food and Love. Have you got a shout-out for the next post yet?

Take a look at trending Social Media Challenges that has brought high traction online recently:

Push-up challenge for awareness around PTSD:
The good part of this activity has been that many corporate professionals have managed to get their lockdown paunch flattened in a bid to get the Push-up challenge right. The entire activity is shot on video and posted each time as it is done over 1/2/3 weeks. The nomination for the next friend also takes place and common friends have a nice time connecting by way of fitness and awareness around an important mental health topic such as PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

Couple Challenge:
This activity is bringing along some thumping measure of mush on-board where a lovey-dovey couple finds instant online glory with a picture post. Yes! singles detest it and ex-girlfriends and former boyfriends are left brooding over the latest buzz. However, love is in the air for sure. Couples are loving it and the captions are all about details of where the couple first met and how deep is their love. Point-taken!

Dalgona Coffee:
In the recent past, just about everyone found their way into their kitchens and whipped up ‘Dalgona Coffee’. It doesn’t quite matter why the trend caught on the web but the visual appeal of the dalgona coffee was truly visibly tantalising for social media enthusiasts. The preparation is also somewhat easy as it is prepared by  by taking equal measures of coffee powder, sugar and hot water and then continuously whipped into a caramel paste. Then simply top this on a tall glass of milk. What will you find? You guess it right – delicious two-colour drink in coffee brown and creamy white. The curious foodies also added the dalgona coffee to the fact it was first coined by Korean actor Jung Il Woo when he ordered for a similar drink in Macao and it reminded him of dalgona (toffee in his homeland). To keep the boredom away, the activity sure seemed interesting and got many netizens to wonder what the big deal was.

Holiday Posts:
The best of all was the resurrection of 10 Holiday Pictures with a nice narrative about the destination. Everyone loves a holiday and this social media challenge was taken up with great frenzy and joy.

B&W Pretty Women:
If you got a break from your kitchen then it was soon time to make for women seeking a quick e-hello from another by sharing and tagging pictures in black and white. Indian women diligently converted their colour pictures into saree-clad B/W beauties and made a major splash online. However, B/W buzz soon died down when men too began to add comments on the posts asking how this trend means anything about empowerment or sisterhood.

As lockdown and Unlock phases continue to vary in different States across India, there is much happening on Social Media platforms.
