India to ramp up ACC production by 10 GWh, MHI conducts pre-bid meeting for global tender

New Delhi: The ministry of heavy industries (MHI) hosted a pre-bid meeting at IFCI Limited in New Delhi, initiating the process for the second round under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme to enhance India‘s Advanced Chemistry Cells (ACC) manufacturing by 10 GWh.

The meeting saw participation from industry stakeholders, government bodies such as NITI Aayog, Ministry of Power, MNRE, and the industry association IESA, marking a step towards strengthening India’s ACC manufacturing capabilities.

The session was aimed at preparing for a global tender to establish giga-scale ACC manufacturing facilities in India, with a focus on technology-agnostic ACCs. The Ministry detailed the global tender’s scope, objectives, technical specifications, eligibility criteria, and evaluation process, setting March 4, 2024, as the last date for receiving bidder queries.

Union minister of heavy industries Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, emphasized the PLI ACC scheme’s role in advancing India as a leader in sustainable energy technologies, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a self-reliant India.

The tender documents have been available since January 24, 2024, with the bid due date on April 22, 2024, and bids opening on April 23, 2024. The ministry highlighted the online, transparent two-stage bidding process under the Quality and Cost Based Selection (QCBS) framework through the CPP Portal, aimed at attracting global talent to India’s ACC manufacturing sector.
