Honor launches AI-Powered smartphone and laptop

ALBAWABA – Chinese technology company Honor globally launched its new smartphone, the Magic 6 Pro, on Sunday, showcasing a trial version enhanced with artificial intelligence that enables users to unlock and remotely move their cars simply by looking at their phone screens.

This tool is already available in China, with the company working on its commercial integration abroad.

Huawei Technologies sold “Honor” in November 2020, and it is now a subsidiary of the state-owned Shenzhen Zhixin New Information Technology, according to Reuters. Technology and communication companies are unveiling new products and features ahead of the annual Mobile World Congress set to begin in Barcelona on Monday, hoping that AI-related advertising will boost companies’ growth prospects.

Smartphone manufacturers hope that this type of promotion will help support the stagnant smartphone market, although many experts say that generative AI may raise legal or ethical concerns.

According to International Data Corporation, in 2023, Apple held a market share in China of 17.3%, while Honor secured 17.1%.

Honor also launched today the new MagicBook Pro 16 laptop with AI feature, allowing users to transfer programs like messaging apps between devices, for example, from an Android smartphone to a Windows computer with a single finger swipe on the screen.

Honor’s CEO, George Zhao, said in a statement that the company firmly believes in the importance of providing the ability to transition between different operating systems, especially in the era of artificial intelligence.
