InnoEX & Hong Kong Electronics Fair Shows Cutting-Edge Tech

In today’s fast-paced business world, AI isn’t just a passing trend – it’s a powerhouse driving innovation across the board. Whether it’s revolutionising customer experiences or transforming how industries approach predictive analytics, AI is everywhere, and its impact is undeniable.

But AI’s reach extends far beyond just business. When combined with IoT technology, AI is transforming cities into smarter, more efficient and more sustainable hubs for their residents. Imagine a city where energy is optimised through intelligent IoT solutions, and transportation is revolutionised through computer vision and machine learning. That’s the reality for many smart cities around the globe, with trailblazers like New York, London and Singapore helping drive the smart cities market to a value of US$104.80bn in 2024

Hong Kong, with its dense urban environment and commitment to innovation, is one of the cities at the forefront of the smart city movement. The city is implementing smart solutions in transportation, energy management and public services, with an ultimate vision to become a globally renowned Smart Hong Kong: characterised by a thriving economy and exceptional quality of life.

Hong Kong’s prominent role as an innovation and technology hub

With research from HKTDC identifying AI and smart city technologies among the key areas for Hong Kong’s innovation and technology (I&T) industry, the city has emerged as a leading hub for I&T, leveraging its unique strengths and fostering an ecosystem conducive to technological advancements, leading to the city being ranked as the world’s second-best in terms of performance by the Global Innovation Index 2023.

Today standing as an emerging location for advancements in technologies from AI and robotics to electronics, smart cities and IoT technology, Hong Kong is an increasingly prominent hub in I&T, thanks to the city’s highly skilled and multicultural talent pool, creative technology solutions and its unique role as an intermediary between mainland China and the world.

The Hong Kong Government has made extensive investments in the I&T sector, with HK$150bn (US$19.17bn) having been invested by the HKSAR Government to promote its development.

Today, this investment is bearing fruit, with cutting-edge smart city, AI, and IoT technologies being showcased at events like the InnoEX and Hong Kong Electronics Fair Spring Edition 2024.

Combining InnoEX, Asia’s most anticipated I&T event, and the Electronics Fair, the world’s leading electronics marketplace, the event will serve as a global platform for thousands of exhibitors to present their technology and electronics to international buyers and investors.

After attracting over 66,000 buyers from around 160 countries and regions in 2023, the 2024 edition of the event will take place from 13th to 16th April, showcasing a range of advanced technology solutions from exhibitors around the globe.

Highlighting cutting-edge technologies

With the explosion of AI taking the world by storm in 2023, generative AI (Gen AI) tools like ChatGPT have helped drive the technology into the mainstream. But while for many Gen AI continues to take centre stage, other advanced technologies like extended reality (XR) and robotics are showing great promise.

Showcasing this wide range of innovative technologies, the InnoEX and Electronics Fair (Spring Edition) will feature a broad range of cutting-edge technologies and products, offering a prime opportunity for attendees to gain insights into Hong Kong’s thriving I&T sector.

Throughout the fair, attendees can participate in seminars on trending tech topics hosted by influential experts and thought leaders. Dedicated events tailored for startups, including mentoring sessions and pitching opportunities, will provide invaluable support for budding entrepreneurs.
