Blue Raiders drop series opener to Louisiana Tech

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—Middle Tennessee State (12-17, 1-3) welcomed Louisiana Tech (18-4, 4-0) to Murfreesboro for its’ first CUSA series at home on the year and dropped the first game of the series to the Bulldogs 5-1.

The Blue Raiders got on the board first in the bottom of the first thanks to right-fielder Amaya Harris’ RBI double to right field that brought leadoff hitter Shelby Echols in to make it a 1-0 game.

The lone run by MTSU was the only one scored through the first four innings, as MTSU starter Kamryn Carcich and Louisiana Tech ace Allie Floyd both were able to limit the damage, with Floyd leaving two Blue Raiders on third base to end an inning and Carcich also stranding a trio of Bulldogs in scoring position to end innings, herself.

Louisiana Tech finally broke through in the fifth inning, scoring five runs, three of them unearned, to secure the late-inning comeback behind a complete game from Floyd in the circle.
