According to Sunita, Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, the Delhi Chief Minister was planning to reveal significant information about an alleged excise policy scam on Thursday and seems like it all turned our right.
Aam Admi party leader Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in a case involving money laundering linked to the excise policy. He was then held in custody by the agency until March 28.
And now on on Thursday Kejriwal arrives to appear before the Rouse Avenue Court for the further hearing. He himself made submissions in the court hearing and said a smokescreen of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) being corrupt has been created before the nation.
He made the submissions in Hindi after taking permission from the court despite his lawyers being present. He was produced in the court of Special Judge Kaveri Baweja and sought seven-day further custody, arguing he needs to be confronted with some people linked with the case.
The ED stated that Kejriwal was not being straightforward in his answers and was refusing to provide the passwords for his electronic devices.
In his submissions, Kejriwal said, “I am named by four witnesses in the excise policy case. Are four statements enough to arrest a sitting CM?”
He alleged that Sarath Chandra Reddy donated Rs 55 crore to the BJP. “I have evidence of this. Money trail is established as he donated the funds after being arrested,” the chief minister said.
He said, A smokescreen of the AAP being corrupt has been created in front of the nation. Kejriwal’s advocate Ramesh Gupta said the chief minister wants to cooperate in the investigation but not on the ED’s grounds for which the agency is seeking extension of his custodial remand.
As he was being taken to the courtroom for the hearing in the case, Kejriwal told reporters that “this is a political conspiracy”.
