Battery Smart sets record with 1000th EV battery swap station, leading charge in India’s green mobility

New Delhi: Battery Smart, India’s largest battery swapping network for electric two and three-wheelers, has achieved a significant milestone by inaugurating its 1000th swap station in Delhi. This makes it the first company in the country to reach this mark, underlining its pivotal role in advancing India’s electric mobility landscape.

Since its inception with the first station in Janakpuri, New Delhi in June 2020, the company has expanded to 1000 stations across 30 cities and completed over 35 million battery swaps. The network encompasses various regions including Haryana, NCR, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra, targeting Tier 1, 2, and 3 cities.

“We’re very proud to establish our 1000th swap station, a significant milestone in our mission to make electric mobility accessible and affordable for all,” said Siddharth Sikka, Co-Founder of Battery Smart. He added, “Committed to helping India achieve net zero emissions by 2070, we appreciate the Government’s sustained support towards the EV industry, which has been instrumental in our growth.”

The company noted the importance of government policy in supporting further expansion of EV infrastructure. “Addressing the GST disparity on lithium-ion batteries sold separately will further accelerate EV adoption by making it more affordable, thus benefiting commercial EV drivers – the backbone of India’s last-mile mobility sector,” Sikka said.

With a customer base of 45,000, Battery Smart is a key player in the Indian two and three-wheeler EV market. Its service model enables drivers to save on costs and time with quick two-minute battery swaps, thereby extending their driving range and reducing upfront vehicle costs by up to 40%.

Battery Smart’s rapid expansion and the milestone of 1000 swap stations validate the increasing acceptance of battery swapping as a viable and sustainable technology solution in India’s growing electric vehicle sector.
