New Delhi: Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL) successfully managed a peak power demand of 2035 MW on Friday, the highest for this season in its area catering to a populace of 7 million in North Delhi.
The company is geared up for the demand to escalate to 2351 MW this summer and has secured power arrangements up to 2500 MW through long-term and short-term agreements.
Last year, the peak power demand in Tata Power-DDL’s operational area reached 2012 MW on May 23. According to predictions by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperatures in the city are expected to rise in the coming days, potentially triggering a yellow alert.
A spokesperson from Tata Power-DDL stated, “As the hot spell continues to cast over the capital, Tata Power-DDL successfully met the summer peak demand on 16th May at 1982 MW and 2035 MW today, the highest requirement so far in this summer season, ensuring uninterrupted power supply without any network constraint and power outages. Tata Power-DDL’s meticulous advance planning and usage of modern technologies, such as advance load forecasting and statistical & modelling techniques as well as Battery Energy Storage Systems are helping us meet the growing requirements in a seamless manner.”
