We’ve only got a few more months of 2024, and before you know it, you’ll be resetting your flexible spending account and health savings accounts for 2025. If you have some extra money lying around in either account and don’t know where to spend it, why not buy yourself a smart ring — an Oura Ring, that is?

Thanks to its health-tracking capabilities, an Oura Ring can track your sleep and activity data to help you further understand your wellness patterns. Plus, Oura Rings are FSA- and HSA-eligible, so you can purchase one of these smart rings with the pre-tax money you’ve set aside throughout the year.

I’ve used an Oura Ring for nearly a year now and have found it to be one of the best health trackers on the market for aggregating health data and offering up helpful suggestions and trends that help me further understand my wellness. It tracks my sleep, activity, and recovery and offers me scores for my daily readiness and how well I slept. With a six-day battery life, you don’t have to charge these as frequently as you would a smartwatch, a major draw for anyone who can’t bother to regularly charge their devices.

There are a few exceptions and things to consider before you purchase the smart ring for yourself. Keep reading to learn how you can buy one with your FSA or HSA funds.

What Oura products can I buy with my FSA or HSA funds?

You can buy the Oura Ring, chargers, and a membership with your FSA or HSA. Oura advises customers to contact their provider ahead of purchasing to make sure that they meet their provider’s requirements and eligibility. Two- and three-year warranties on Oura Rings are not FSA- or HSA-eligible.

While memberships are eligible for FSA and HSA, an Oura Membership can only be purchased with a credit card or Paypal and indirectly reimbursed through an HSA or FSA. “Invoices for recurring membership payments can be downloaded from the Membership Hub and sent to your provider,” according to Oura’s website

How can I buy an Oura Ring through my FSA or HSA?

There are two ways to purchase an Oura Ring through your FSA and HSA: directly and indirectly.

To purchase directly, go to Oura’s website, select your Oura Ring of choice, and check out. When it asks for a payment method, select the Sika FSA/HSA payment method and then select “Continue with Sika,” which will take you to the third-party display. It will show which items you’ve selected can be purchased with an FSA/HSA and which cannot. You’ll have to use a different card from your FSA/HSA for the ineligible items. Once both cards are added, select “Complete Purchase.” You’ll then receive a confirmation email from support@sikahealth.com.

To purchase indirectly, that is, to buy the Oura Ring with an alternative payment method to FSA/HSA funds, locate your Oura order confirmation from orders@ouraring.com or support@sikahealth.com. Contact Oura’s Member Care team if you can’t find this in your email.

Then, find your Oura membership invoice within the Membership Hub on the app. Once you have this information, go to your FSA/HSA provider and file a claim for the ring, the membership, and the chargers. This includes shipping and taxes as well. Submit your claim, and you’re good to go.

How can I use part of my FSA/HSA funds to purchase an Oura Ring?

Let’s say you don’t have enough FSA/HSA money to complete the purchase with those funds alone. Oura says your FSA/HSA subtotal will automatically adjust to the remaining balance on your HSA or FSA card account, and you can use another payment method to make up the difference.
