Amaravati, January 5, 2019 : Andhra Pradesh is followed by Maharashtra and Delhi as per a team of researchers led by Dr. Tan Khee Giap, Co-Director, Asia Competitiveness Institute (ACI), Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. The institute has announced the 2018 Ease of Doing Business Index: attractiveness to investors, business friendliness, competitiveness policies (ABC) rankings.
In the latest ranking of ACI’s EODB (Ease Of Doing Business) index, Andhra Pradesh got the first rank in 2018. Emphasizing upon the importance of leadership, Tan recognized Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s dynamic leadership and relentless efforts to realize the golden vision for the new sunrise State of Andhra Pradesh.
“International investors look for a stable government with strong policies before coming forward for investments. This is a prestigious recognition for the State,” Dr. Tan Khee Giap said. “We will meet the expectations of foreign investors. The State government is planning to distribute a smartphone to each family. Nearly 14 million smartphones will be manufactured for distribution,” he added.
The ACI team also highlighted the areas that need improvement in sub-environments such as facilitation of business operations, infrastructure resilience, and market potential. Workers density, foreign direct investment, labor productivity, illiteracy rate were identified as the weakest indicators.
Analysis at the indicator level will help identify specific areas of improvement and will play a crucial role in realizing the vision of making Andhra Pradesh the best investment destination in the world by 2050.
