Apple Inc reported a month-on-month uptick in job postings in August 2023. This surge in recruitment comes at the time when news are doing the rounds that the tech giant strives to diversify its supply chain and expand into the Indian market. Despite these endeavors, China ranks second only to the US in terms of job postings. This shows that the company’s dependence on China remains substantial, as it continues to seek talent across various segments to support its multifaceted operations, says GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.
An analysis of the GlobalData’s Job Analytics Database reveals that the Cupertino-based tech giant listed around 60 positions in China during August 2023.
Sherla Sriprada, Business Fundamentals Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Apple’s strategic pivot towards India seems to be driven by a determined effort to lessen its dependence on China. This shift is likely to be underscored by Apple’s plans to significantly increase production in India over the next few years, aiming to establish the country as a pivotal hub for future growth and diversification. However, going by the hiring trend, Apple’s reliance on China is not likely to reduce soon.”
Some of the Apple’s focus areas in China include fraud prevention, supply demand, software development, manufacturing, hardware systems, product design, and Apple music.
For instance, “Acoustics Engineer” role looks at implementing the extraordinary acoustic designs in Apple products by working closely with US team to review designs, DFMs and ramp production the acoustic designs/architectures in FATP (Final Assembly, Test and Pack) sites.
Another role “Senior Product Marketing Manager, Greater China” looks at providing technical support to the launch and momentum activities of all the Apple products.
