New technology and impressive products have been unveiled at a Nottinghamshire company. Barcode Warehouse is known for having its finger on the pulse when it comes to how businesses can use technology to help the environment and save money.
The Newark business works with a number of innovative partners to share new technology and forward-thinking products with its customers. On Wednesday, March 13, the organisation hosted an exclusive event for businesses across the UK, which focused on technology around “last-mile delivery”, which is the final stage in the supply chain in getting a product or service to a customer.
The point of the event was to show people how they can implement new technology to be more eco-friendly, save time and save money. One of the highlights of the day was if.Vehicles, which unveiled its new solution for deliveries in the form of a zero-emission vehicle which can also transform into a push trolley.
The dual-mode product can be made to the specifications a business needs, which resembles an e-scooter in some ways, and helps improve efficiencies whilst also cutting down van usuage by up to 80 per cent. CEO Andrew Hodgson explained that he believes micro-mobility is the key to sustainable transport, as not all businesses need to be using large vans and lorries to distribute products.
Additionally, this smaller vehicle could be more effective, especially for city centres. The day at Barcode Warehouse included an interactive tour of the company’s state-of-the-art Innovation and Customer Experience Centre, where visitors witnessed the latest technology solutions. One of the people in attendance was Darren Rawlinson, the partner developer for Europe for Android Enterprise.
He explained that he has known the Barcode Warehouse company for years and has been able to watch the business grow and develop to become the trusted voice in the industry that they are today. Mr Rawlinson explained: “In terms of today’s event, it just further showcases the effects that Barcode are making to inform and educate their clients and also of course to provide a platform for their partners, so it’s a really mutually beneficial event for customers to learn and for partners to make that direct contact with customers.”
Visitors also listened to talks from industry experts, the opportunity to test drive Maxus commercial electric vehicles and a presentation from MP Bill Esterson, who is the shadow Transport Minister. The MP said: “It’s clear what an important event this is, and just what a great job Barcode Warehouse is doing looking after customers and having a facility like this which is a great way of showcasing the fantastic work, contributions and the opportunities that exist in this space.”
CEO of Levl Telematics, Jan O’Hara, also spoke at the event, and shared that his company is working with Geotab to provide industry-leading fleet management and EV telematics solutions. One of the companies using the solutions is Milk and More, which has a fulfilment centre in Nottingham.
Mr O’Hara explained that since the company started using their solutions they were able to save money and help the environment. This included saving £1.8m in diesel each year, a 21 per cent reduction in speeding incidents, a 19 per cent increase in the EV range, and 4,920 tonnes of CO2 being saved each year.
