On a day Prime Minister Narendra Modi ended his Lok Sabha election campaign, BJP national media in-charge Anil Baluni posted on X, “I consider myself lucky that I took part as a party worker in the 2014, 2019 and 2024 election campaigns under the leadership of respected Shri Narendra Modi ji.” He added that he saw great enthusiasm among people for Modi in 2014, unwavering trust in him in 2019, and was a witness to this enthusiasm and trust turning into devotion in 2024. Baluni ended his post with Jai Baba Kedarnath.

Book To Remember

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh, who was in-charge of seven Lok Sabha constituencies in West Bengal during the ongoing elections, has returned from the state with some engaging souvenirs, including a copy of the ‘handwritten’ manuscript of Rabindranath Tagore’s Gitanjali. It is a facsimile of the original book, which was written by Tagore in Bengali and English in 1910. Singh is reading the book these days. It is learnt that he got the book in Kolkata, while returning to Delhi after spending about a month touring Arambagh, Bangaon, Barrackpore, Hooghly, Howrah, Srerampur and Uluberia constituencies.

Appointment Hiccups

FORMER SUPREME Court judge Justice Arun Mishra is retiring next week as the chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission. Since the NHRC Act, 1993 does not prescribe a provision for extension of NHRC chairperson’s tenure and with the general elections underway, the next appointment might take some time. Last time too, when former CJI H L Dattu retired as NHRC chairperson in December 2020, the post remained vacant for nearly seven months before Justice Mishra was appointed.
