- IESA to facilitate the Defence Incubation Centre
- Dr. G Satheesh Reddy is the winner for the prestigious APJ Abdul Kalam award
Bengaluru, September 28, 2018 : In the two-day summit, SPACETRONICS & DEFTRONICS 2018, organized by India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), the premier trade body representing the Indian Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) industry, on 18-19 September, 2018, Dr. Satheesh Reddy, Secretary in Department of Defence Research & Development (DDR&D), Chairman of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO); Scientific Advisor to Raksha Mantri and the winner of the IESA APJ Abdul Kalam award winner, said through tele presence “Today, the country is looking forward to the electronics industry, to come up in a big way, develop the electronics, develop the semiconductors, design here in the country, produce it in the country and make the country self reliant in the electronics area.
Prime Minister has taken up the Make In India program to develop each and every item in the country, produce in the country and try to export to maximum. In this situation, IESA is playing an important role in developing the electronic industries in the area of semiconductors and electronics. Particularly in the semiconductors area, the country needs to do a lot. We are just in the beginning stage. We started designing many chips here in the country and we are becoming a design house for various founders in the world today. IESA is encouraging these industries in a big way, tying up with various government organisations, establishing many Incubation centres, particularly, working with MeitY, ISRO, DRDO and various other organisations. I congratulate IESA for establishing Incubation Centres in the North Eastern states. I also promise that we will also work with IESA to establish Incubation Centres in various parts of the country.
IESA in collaboration with Ministry of Defence, ISRO and NITA partners to boost electronics design and manufacturing related to space, aerospace and to facilitate entrepreneurship and innovation with special focus on StartUps and SMEs. The summit created an opportunity to ring in the unexplored potential related to the Indian Space Research.
The prestigious SPACETRONICS & DEFTRONICS AWARDS 2018 ceremony was organized on 18 September, 2018. These awards recognized outstanding individuals and role models in innovation and excellence in the electronics & design services ecosystem in fields of Space Technology, Avionics and Defence Industry.
The esteemed Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Award was offered to Dr. Satheesh Reddy, Secretary in Department of Defence Research & Development (DDR&D), Chairman of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO); Scientific Advisor to Raksha Mantri. This award recognized his sustained and outstanding contribution to the Defence sector in India. I am thankful to India Electronics Semiconductors Association for bestowing the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Award on me. It’s a prestigious award. Its privilege for me to receive the award from IESA, said Dr, G Satheesh Reddy through tele presence.
