• Hexagon, in alignment with State Government, brings forth practical solutions for 5 Problems Affecting day-to-day lives through ‘Hexathon’
• Team Yodha – Malla Reddy Engineering College for Women, Hyderabad declared winners for a smart voting system using block chain, where voter can do online voting. 4 other teams were awarded distinctive ideas certificates
Hyderabad, India, Oct 21, 2019 : Hexagon Capability Center India (HCCI), conducted a 24-hour hackathon named ‘Hexathon’ in Hyderabad over the weekend. Over 250 teams across 800 individuals comprising 500 students, 60 External corporate participants and 250 internal employees submitted their ideas for the same. Out of that, Top selected 136 teams battled it out for to claim the “Winner” position and 3 “Distinctive Ideas” positions.
The ‘Hexathon’ aimed to solve the day-to-day challenges with focus on 5 core themes – SMART City, SMART Agriculture, SMART Factories, SMART Office, WATER Management. The concept fructified collaboratively with Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, IT&C Government of Telangana, supporting the idea, involved in reaching out to the Student community (through J-Hub) and to IT firms (through HYSEA).
Commending the code creator’s practical ideas to solve problems, Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, IT&C Government of Telangana, judging the final round said that “Public-Private partnership can help create scale-able solutions faster. We are happy that the oldest IT Firm of Hyderabad Intergraph (now Hexagon) is coming forward to help create awareness and solutions for common global challenges by involving local talent. An initiative like this will create an entrepreneurial spirit amongst college students in the city and also let the city enjoy a workable set of ideas and solutions.”

City HATS – Hexagon Capability Center India, Theme – Smart City –Integrate data from different sources like hospitals, wellness centres etc and generate actionable insights for taking proactive steps for preventing breakout of diseases like Malaria , dengue and other diseases.
Geeks 3.0 – Hexagon Capability Center India – Theme Smart Agriculture Smartphone assisted crop damage and timely diagnosis of the disease to save the farmer from the agricultural losses.
Middle Benchers – Gokaraju Rangaraju Institute of Engineering and Technology,Theme – Water Management Water management system for the neighborhood through connected pipes and monitor usage through dashboard , a channel between buyer and seller for sewage treated and harvested rain water.
Hawk’s Eye – Hexagon Capability Centre -Theme Smart City – Idea scrutinize live camera feed to identify suspects in crowded public places based on historical crime data to help minimise crime in cities.
Claudio Simao, group Chief Technology Officer, Hexagon AB, who flew down to the city, to co-judge the event said, “I am constantly impressed with the quality of talent this city exhibits, and their focus to solve societal problems.” He added, “College grads showed exceptional IT skills with a clear understanding of problems and how they want to address them”. He attributed the talent levels to be the core contributor in Hexagon’s fastest-growing R&D center in Hyderabad–the single largest R&D center of Hexagon in the entire world.
Expressing delight over the unprecedented partaking for Hexathon, Navaneet Mishra, Vice President & Country Manager, HCCI said “Hexathon success is a clear indicator of the strength of the city’s IT community’s shared passion (Students and corporate alike) in bringing technology and data together – to create awareness & solutions for global challenges.
