Hyderabad, India, November 18, 2019 : Hyderabad is gearing up to showcase the world the best of Media and digital entertainment from India and around the world at IndiaJoy – India’s largest Media and Digital Entertainment Festival. The event kicks off on November 20th at HICC, Hyderabad.
This year edition, Indiajoy 2019 will host the first edition of Desi Toons conclave, to celebrate the success of Indian animation, will focus on indigenous IPs, the global potential and the future of Indian animation.
In partnership with Green Gold Animation, this debut conclave about animation called “DesiToons” is a first of its kind event in India to bring together all the stakeholders of animation, production, broadcasting and licensing industry on November 21st.
Rajiv Chilaka, President of Telangana VFX, Animation and Gaming Association (TVAGA) and Founder & CEO, Green Gold Animation said, The Indian animation industry is at a very interesting and crucial juncture. In the last couple of decades, India has proven its caliber in creating shows and IPs which are forces to reckon with globally. Of course, the journey has just begun for all of us. With Desi Toons Animation Conclave, we hope to provide the stage to better understand where we stand and where we are headed.
Giving a sense of sense of India’s toon market and the sectors Toon Marketing is used, in films, media and entertainment and how big is the market in terms of market size and employability Rajiv says, even though 70-80% of animation revenue in India comes from international projects, India’s share in the global industry is less than 1%. The future is promising and offers huge growth potential for Indian players.
The animation industry in India is at an excess of 17 billion USD and growing at a rate of 13% and increasing. What is extremely heartening to know is that the Indian Animation IP production (excluding animation services) has a year on year growth of 8.7%. Almost double of what it was in 2012. With a population of 373 million between the ages of 1-14 in India itself, this trend will only improve upon in the coming years.
The one-day DesiToons conclave will provide insights into the challenges and opportunities across the animation ecosystem i.e. production, broadcasting as well as the licensing industry.
