NASSCOM hosts IIIT Director’s meet to highlight India’s transforming talent story

New Delhi, India, December 13, 2019 : As part of its ongoing efforts to promote hiring across the industry and ensuring there is a well-equipped workforce, the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) today hosted a director’s meet for their FutureSkills partner the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT).

NASSCOM imbibes an ideology to bring in unique perspectives from key influencers and thought leaders, to drive the skilling agenda as a priority for India. The event comprised of a select group of 28 IIIT Directors and key officials from the industry and government to highlight the theme
‘Transforming India’s Talent Story : A Roadmap to the Digital Future’.

In attendance at the event was Debjani Ghosh, President NASSCOM, Ajay Prakash Sawhney, Secretary, MeiTY, Government of India, Amit Aggarwal, CEO, Sector Skills Council, NASSCOM and Professor G. Kannabiran, IIIT to name a few. They showcased the key insights on industry trends, skill requirements and academic research collaborations. They also touched upon the roles that the industry, academia and the Government are required to execute to convert plans to deliver valuable impact.


Digital skills are required to steer ahead in the 4th industrial revolution and prominent research from various entities has shown that the competitive advantage of countries will change depending on who has the relevant quality and quantity of digital talent. The takeaways from the event were to reach an agreement on the need to create an industry academia led multi-stakeholder coalition to drive the skilling agenda on emerging technologies. It also focused on the way forward while dealing with driving the collaborative ecosystem to build an extensive digital talent road map.


Over the last 3 decades, India has become a global leader in IT, with almost 4 Million employees and over $167B revenue. Such initiatives would help build a multi-stakeholder coalition to map India’s journey to lead in the Digital Future.
