It was in the year 1951 the Sangeet Mahavidyalaya was started on the Kojagiri, full moon day. The chief Architect was Mr S. B. Deshpande ji, a great Hindustani Vocal singer and a dedicated teacher. The music school reached great heights during his tenure as Principal of sangeet Mahavidyalaya. In those days only Hindustani Vocal, tabla, Harmonium and Sitar was being taught. From beginning this school was affiliated to Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahvidyalaya Mandal, Miraj. The students who have learned music from this school have earned good name and have started their own Institutes.
The music school was closed for a period of around 4 to 5 years. It was reopened in the year 2014. Today number of subjects are being taught, Hindustani Vocal, table, Harmonium, Sitar, Guitar, Key board, Kathak dance, Bharatnatyam.
The response received in this school made the management to think of opening another branch at Nallakunta. The premises was renovated and the second branch started in December 2018. This branch picked up very fast and today more than 160 students are being trained in different fields of music. Which includes Hindustani Vocal, Carnatic Vocal, Carnatic Violin, Tabla, Flute, Guitar, Key board, Kathak dance, Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi dance In addition to these subjects students can learn drawing, Painting and Crafts.
V V Sangeet Mahavidyalaya is a well known center for the ABGMV exams. Now students can appear for the April/ May or Nov/Dec. schedule. Around 600 students appear every year.
Now we are proposing to start coaching for NATA and BFA entrance exams. The students aspiring for getting through these exams can have coaching from highly qualified faculty.
These courses are going to start at Vivek Vardhini Institute of Fine Arts and Design Nallakunta.
NATA is a national level under graduate exam which is conducted by council of Architecture (COA) for admission to 5 yr – B arch and “B” planning programmers.
Eligibility – 10+2 (Physics, Chemistry & Mathamatics)
B. F. A.- Entrance is conducted to get admission in five art courses. The candidate on getting selection can apply for any of these courses.
