Owensboro Community & Technical College’s Veterinary Technology and Radiography programs are hosting preadmission conferences in the coming weeks.
The Vet Tech program provides real-world clinical and lab experiences to develop the skills needed to become a valued professional in the field. These open houses are designed to give prospective students an overview of the program and demonstrations to simulate the lab experience.
Upon completion of the two-year Vet Tech program, graduates are prepared to sit for the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE). Areas of study include office and hospital procedures, client relations and communications, anatomy, physiology, parasitology, microbiology, clinical techniques, pharmacology, anesthesiology, surgical and medical nursing, radiology, and clinical pathology training.
Before applying for admission to the OCTC Veterinary Technology Program, students are asked to attend at least one pre-admission conference. The next conference will be held from 5-6 p.m. on March 26 at OCTC’s downtown campus, RM 23/Vet Tech Teaching Hospital, 1501 Frederica Street.
OCTC’s vet tech program is a selective admissions program and has a limited number of seats available each year. For more information, attend the preadmission conference or contact Dr. Laura Boarman at 270-686-4585 or [email protected].
OCTC’s 2-year Associate in Applied Science Degree Radiography program also has a limited number of seats available each year.
Upon completing the program, students are eligible to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) national exam. When the exam is completed successfully, students become Registered Technologists.
Interested students need to attend one preadmission conference. Preadmission conferences for the Fall 2024 semester are at 10 a.m. on March 22 and April 19 in room 212 at OCTC’s Southeast Campus, 1901 Southeastern Parkway.
