Purple Fest 2024: A Symphony of Inclusivity Echoes at Rashtrapati Bhawan

Today marked a historic celebration of diversity and unity as the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India proudly presented Purple Fest 2024 at Rashtrapati Bhawan. Organized in collaboration with Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities, the event saw over 10 thousand Divyangjan and their escorts gather at this majestic venue, fostering bonds of solidarity and mutual respect.
The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu graced the occasion with her support and encouragement. Children with disabilities, accompanied by their Special Education Teachers, were invited to Amrit Udyaan exclusively for a memorable experience, further enriching the day’s festivities.
The stage came alive with a kaleidoscope of cultural performances, each act a testament to the indomitable spirit of resilience and creativity. From the ethereal melodies of the Shining Star Band to the captivating performances of Satya & Sagarika, every moment was a celebration of diversity and unity.
The program featured three major launches, including the collaboration between the NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR EMPOWERMENT OF PERSONS WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES (NIEPID) and TATA POWER COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TRUST (TPCDT) for the “INDIA NEURODIVERSITY PLATFORM,” aimed at early intervention and home care. Additionally, the launch of the handbook ‘Attitudinal Barrier & Usage of Disability Sensitive Language’ addressed crucial language barriers, fostering a framework for correct phraseology on disability.
Beyond the festivities, visitors explored the Rashtrapati Bhawan museum, embracing the ethos of inclusivity while enriching their minds. Every beat of the drum, every note sung, every smile exchanged resonated with the values of equality and dignity for all.
Purple Fest 2024 was more than just an event; it was a movement towards a more inclusive society, echoing the symphony of inclusivity and diversity.
