• Samsung R&D Bangalore Collaborates with KLE Technological University to Offer Learning Opportunities in ‘Embedded Intelligence’
Samsung R&D Institute- Bangalore (SRI-B) has collaborated with KLE Technological University in Hubli, Karnataka to co-create a course in Embedded Intelligence, which will allow students to learn various concepts in this domain through theoretical and practical applications. This makes KLE University the first to offer such a course in deep collaboration with Samsung. The course has been introduced as an elective subject for sixth semester students of computer science engineering, electronics & communication engineering and electrical & electronics engineering. It will equip students with knowledge on the basics of embedded systems, heterogeneous computing, machine learning frameworks and Android anatomy.
As part of the preparation to roll out the course, select faculty members of the university received training in Embedded Intelligence from SRI-B engineers at the company’s campus in Bangalore, and they also worked with fifth semester students on some of Samsung’s ongoing projects to give them hands-on experience with Embedded Intelligence.
“In today’s age of rapidly-evolving technology, it is important to have advanced technical education that can truly equip students to become tomorrow’s innovators. We are pleased to associate with KLE Technological University and develop this course and empower their students to learn cutting-edge concepts,” said Balaji Holur, Vice President, SRI-B.
As part of the collaboration, SRI-B also assisted the University in improving the students’ programming skills by mentoring them to solve coding problems. The students were also trained by SRI-B engineers on aspects such as data structures and problem-solving methods. “The success of Samsung- KLE Tech Collaboration is due to the deeper engagement driven by the passion of people and strong intent of both organizations to make significant impact on student learning and institutional research capability,” said Prof. Ashok Settar, Vice Chancellor, KLE Technological University.
The R&D Centre had earlier conducted the KLE Codethon in September 2018 for colleges in and around Hubli-Dharwad region in North Karnataka, to encourage students to display their aptitude in programming. The winners of the hackathon were given a six-month internship opportunity at SRI-B.
