SATTE 2019 to be held at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida from 16-18 January

South Asia’s Leading Travel Trade Show, is an annual three day B2B trade show designed to bring together the key travel industry leaders in the region. It convenes Indian & International exhibitors and buyers to forge new partnership and strengthen business.

The 26th edition of SATTE (South Asia Travel and Trade Show) will be held from 16th January to 18th of January 2019 at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida – Delhi NCR.

Considering the feedback from travel trade fraternity with regards to inconvenience for participants arising from the redevelopment of Pragati Maidan, UBM India, the organiser of SATTE has taken a conscious decision to shift the 2019 and 2020 editions of the show to India Expo Centre, Greater Noida. The Indian tourism industry too has gone all out to support the decision to change the show venue.

At the new venue, the SATTE will be spread over 25,000 sq mtr. of business area. This will enable participants to do seamless business without wasting much time at the entry and exit points. To enhance the overall experience, we are all set to organise convenient transportation from the capital to the venue.

Its Silver Jubilee edition in 2018, SATTE has emerged as the undisputed premier market place in the entire South Asia region for the businesses in travel, tourism and hospitality arena from both, India and overseas, to grow their travel business interest from this phenomenally growing market as the Silver Jubilee edition attracted over 31000 trade visitors to shop at over 1000 suppliers and exhibitors from 50 countries from across the globe and 80 cities in India.

A three day business networking trade show, SATTE 2019 will be bigger this year with participation from more than 1000 exhibitors, over 50 countries and 29 Indian states.

Tourism sector as an employment generator

United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), is set to celebrate the World Tourism Day 2019 in India with the theme of ‘Tourism and Jobs: a better future for all’. As a prelude to the year’s celebration, SATTE 2019 is all set to uncover the theme to understand the opportunities which the tourism sector provides globally. As per reports tourism was responsible for the creation of seven million new jobs worldwide last year and close to 313 million jobs is related directly or indirectly to Tourism. Also 1 in 10 jobs around the world is attributed to tourism.

This sector has already outpaced the traditional sectors in terms of employment opportunities. In the long run the sector will further grow with destinations focusing on this segment aggressively. According to reports, by 2028, Travel & Tourism is expected to support more than 400 million jobs globally, which equates to 1 in 9 of all jobs in the world; and the sector is expected to contribute around 25 per cent of global net job creation over the next decade.

Are NTO’s India ready?

The UNWTO predicts that the Indian outbound travel market will account for 50 million tourists by 2020, and its total outbound spending is expected to cross the US$28 billion mark. The Indian outbound market has witnessed a staggering double digit growth in the last couple of years.
Yet, the National Tourist Offices (NTOs) of various countries present in India have been implementing the plain vanilla marketing and promotional strategy since last 6-7 years. There has not been much innovation in their marketing strategy despite Indian outbound traveller preference, choice, perspectives and tastes.

Today, majority of Indians are now mature traveller and are looking for very authentic experience. However, traditional outbound destinations are still offering the same products, resulting into the depletion of repeat customers to most of these destinations.
