Simon Cowell issues three-word response as ITV Britain’s Got Talent star hit with ‘tech issue’

A Britain’s Got Talent act hit a snag mere moments into their routine, but Simon Cowell didn’t miss a beat.

The ITV spectacle returned on Tuesday (May 28) for the second live semi-final, with acts like dance troupe Blitzers and magician Jack Rhodes vying for that coveted spot in the grand finale. However, when Matteo Fraziano took to the stage, there was a palpable sense of discomfort as the shadow artist and illusionist fumbled with his torch set-up right at the get-go.

Unfazed, the consummate performer quickly rectified the hiccup and dove into his act, earning an encouraging round of applause from the judges before he even began. Matteo’s act turned out to be nothing short of spectacular, even bringing in co-host Dec Donnelly to showcase his puppet mastery, much to the delight of the audience and panel, reports the Daily Star.

Yet, sharp viewers didn’t let the initial faux pas go unnoticed. On Twitter, one viewer quipped: “Oops technical issue lol.” Another commented: “He couldn’t get the light to stand still..” And a third remarked: “Can’t even set up a torch, this is going well.”

Despite the early stumble, many fans expressed their awe at Matteo’s talent, with one fan exclaiming: “If you think the shadow puppet guy isn’t genius, you can f*** off into space.” Another chimed in: “Oh it’s a joy to see you again Matteo. I think I like shadow puppets now. Loved all the stuff you did with Dec as well.”

Head judge, Simon Cowell, praised Matteo for his resilience, saying “Good for you! “. He elaborated: “For you to recover after I thought honestly the whole thing was just not going to happen at the beginning. And you really picked yourself up quickly. So good for you! ” He added, while the audience applauded.

However, Alesha Dixon wasn’t as impressed with the performance. She confessed that it didn’t ignite her enthusiasm like his initial audition had. She told him: “You are super talented, but it didn’t set me on fire tonight. It left me feeling flat. I just wasn’t feeling it tonight, I’m sorry.”

Matteo told Ant and Dec: “It just wanted a great experience. I just really enjoyed the fact that some many people that loved it.” The good news is for the act that lots of people watching at home enjoyed his show with one writing on X: “Matteo was so different and so fantastic.”

Dec looked a bit apprehensive as Matteo him down on the chair and played the song ‘That’s Amore’ as Matteo moved his hands like he was singing before his shadow went in for a kiss. He then transformed the shadow into a dog and the audience laughed as the shadow Dec and the shadow dog re-created the spaghetti scene from Lady and the Tramp.
