Last week, we witnessed the launch of over five new smartphones in India, including the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, the first smartphone from the company that costs almost a lakh rupees. Similarly, Vivo also introduced its most affordable Zeiss-tuned camera smartphone — Vivo V30 Pro (review), and Lava announced the Blaze Curve, one of the most affordable 5G smartphones with a curved display, and we also witnessed the announcement of the Realme 12 and the Realme 12+ (review) smartphones.

Apple-Epic Games battle
The battle between Apple and Epic Games intensified last week, which all started with Apple blocking Epic Games developer account, and the same was then reinstated to comply with EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA). This is a big step, as Epic Games is planning to introduce a third-party app store for iPhones in the European region, which allows iPhone users to sideload the apps and games on iPhones.
Update – Apple has told us and committed to the European Commission that they will reinstate our developer account. We are moving forward as planned to launch the Epic Games Store and bring Fortnite back to iOS in Europe.

Meta platforms faced a massive outage
Meta-owned social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Threads faced a massive outage last week, which lasted over 2 hours. During the downtime, users were unable to access various services, both on desktop and on mobile. While Meta acknowledged the issue and fixed it, it has not shared what caused the service disruption.

MacBook Air M3 launch
Apple also introduced the all-new MacBook Air M3 in two sizes — 13-inch and 15-inch, both powered by the M3 processor with up to 24 GB of RAM and 2 TB of internal storage, and these new models can now support up to two external displays when the lid is closed. These laptops look just like their predecessors, and the new processor offers enhanced CPU, GPU, and AI performance with improved power efficiency.
