• A total of 547 students including 16 PhD scholars receive their graduation degrees

NEW DELHI, May 19, 2018 : Shiv Nadar University, a comprehensive, multidisciplinary and research-focused university, established under the aegis of Shiv Nadar Foundation, today celebrated its fourth convocation. The University awarded 16 PhDs, 85 Masters and 446 undergraduate degrees to its students. Together a total of 547 students from various streams including Engineering, Natural Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences, Business and Arts have graduated from the University, making it the largest batch of graduating students till date.
The Convocation began with a commencement address delivered by Prof. Ronald J. Daniels, President, the Johns Hopkins University. Later, the students were addressed by Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee, Inventor of the World Wide Web (www) who attended the event as special guest.
Speaking at the Convocation, Dr S N Balakrishnan, Chancellor, Shiv Nadar University, said, “The Shiv Nadar University’s Convocation is special every year as proud parents and faculty come together with our guests of honor to celebrate the impressive achievements of our graduating students. 2018 is special as we have 16 PhDs graduating from the University, an impressive achievement given that we are only seven years old as an institution. I am truly excited to think about the incredible opportunities that these students will have of finding solutions to complex problems as they head out into the world. With the broad-based education that every one of our students receive, they will be better placed to excel at new career paths that earlier generations couldn’t have thought possible. At Shiv Nadar University we have always attempted to empower our young students to recognize and grasp these new opportunities and help shape a better tomorrow.”

They also recognized the University’s effort to inculcate holistic learning amongst its students, required to succeed in the careers of the 21st century.”
Shiv Nadar University, spread over a 286 acres campus, has a vibrant community of approximately 2,100 students, including more than 140 PhD scholars, and 400 faculty & staff members. The University offers a wide range of programs from the undergraduate to the doctoral levels and has five schools: Engineering, Natural Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences, Management & Entrepreneurship and Extended Education & Professional Development.
A total of 101 companies visited Shiv Nadar University to recruit 85% students, who opted for placements, from the graduating Class of 2018. Some of the leading organizations that have recruited students from the University include Morgan Stanley, OYO, Dell, Amazon, IBM, Ashok Leyland, Daikin, Tata Power, Coffee Day Beverages, Amul, Saint Gobain, Shapoorji Pallonji, Cognizant Dassault Systems, among others.
Shiv Nadar University also announced that a substantial number of students have received graduate admission and financial aid offers from top institutions and Universities across the world. Some of the top ranked institutions (in India) to roll out admission offers to the students for further education included IISc Bangalore, and IIT Bombay. Graduating students have also received offers from top global institutions such as Purdue University, University of British Columbia, Rutgers University, IE Business School, Barcelona Graduate School of Economics, Trinity College Dublin, Carnegie Mellon, University of Texas at Dallas, Australian National University, and Michigan Tech University.
