Virginia Tech looks to punch Sweet 16 ticket against Baylor

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR)—Fourth-seeded Virginia Tech is facing off against the fifth-seeded Baylor Bears at Carillion Court with a trip to the Sweet 16 on the line Sunday at 8 p.m.

While the Hokies took care of business on Friday in a 43-point victory against Marshall, Baylor is also coming off a commanding 17-point victory in their first-round match-up against Vanderbilt.

Baylor was led by guard Bella Fontleroy, who put up a double-double with 19 and 11 rebounds and Big 12 all-conference selection Sarah Andrews also recorded 13 points and five rebounds.

The Bears play quickly and physically, with height all around the court. This was seen against Commadores, as Baylor forced 21 Vanderbilt turnovers. The Hokies will look to match this intensity, especially on their home court. This is a game center Liz Kitley would have been key in, however, Virginia Tech will need others to step up and contribute to make up for the impact of their missing piece.

The contest will air on ESPN at 8 p.m., with the Hokies hoping to continue their postseason push in Blacksburg.
