Last year, India saw the launch of various foldable phones like Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, OnePlus Open, and Oppo Find N2 Flip. Tech enthusiasts seemed to be quite excited at the idea of foldable devices and now, Vivo is all set to enter the party. The brand hasn’t yet launched a foldable phone in India but that is set to change soon. In a teaser, Vivo confirmed that its foldable phone, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro with AI capabilities, will launch in India soon.

Even though an exact launch date hasn’t been confirmed, reports had earlier said that the phone could arrive sometime in June this year. If this is true, we might just be a couple of days away from the launch of the device. The device also recently appeared on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification website and the Geekbench database, strengthening rumours of its imminent release.
The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro was introduced in March 2023 and will break the brand’s trend of launching foldable phones only in China. Since the phone was already introduced last year, it could have similar specifications to that of its global variant. In addition to this, several leaks and rumours in the past have talked about the phone’s possible specs.
As per reports, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro could be the first foldable phone featuring a Carbon Fibre Keel component in its hinge mechanism. This technology ensures the device remains lightweight for enhanced portability along with being robust enough to endure extensive usage. Testing by TÅV Rheinland confirmed the device could withstand up to 500,000 folds, equivalent to around 12 years of reliable use.
Additionally, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro comes with dual displays, there could be a 6.53-inch cover display and an 8.03-inch inner AMOLED LTPO folding display. Both screens are expected to support a resolution of 2480 x 2200 pixels, 120Hz refresh rate, and other features like Dolby Vision and HDR10+, with a peak brightness of 4,500 nits.
The recent teaser from Vivo highlighted the inclusion of ZEISS optics for the camera system and the lightweight nature of the phone, which weighs just 236 grams and measures 11.2mm thick when folded, thanks to the 14.98-gram carbon fiber hinge.
Under the hood, the X Fold 3 Pro is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, paired with an Adreno GPU for superior graphics performance. The device could offer up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS4.0 storage, promising smooth and efficient operation. Furthermore, the phone runs on OriginOS 4, based on Android 14, out of the box.
Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the sophisticated camera setup on the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. It features a 50-megapixel ultra-sensing primary camera with OIS, a 64-megapixel 3x telephoto lens, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens. For selfies and video calls, there is a 32-megapixel front camera. In terms of battery, the foldable phone is expected to be equipped with a 5,700mAh battery.
The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro will be available for purchase through Flipkart, Vivo India’s online store, and offline retail channels. Coming to the expected price of the phone in India, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro costs Rs 9,999 yuan in China. This converts to Rs 1.17 lakh in INR. Hence, the phone could be priced under Rs 1.5 lakh in India.
