Walmart India Activates UPI on its B2B e-commerce Platform

• UPI to encourage & boost online transactions among small kiranas and give push to digital & cashless economy.

New Delhi, August 16, 2018 : Walmart India, wholly owned subsidiary of Walmart Inc., today announced that UPI Payment Interface (UPI) is now live for all its registered members. This payment solution will now enable members, especially kiranas/resellers, who shop online at Walmart India’s B2B e-commerce site www.bestprice.in to make direct & secured payments online from their bank account without sharing bank details. This will, especially benefit kirana members who neither hold any credit/debit card nor have the time to visit banks for making RTGS payments.

UPI is in addition to various other payment modes such as Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking, Wallets etc. that Walmart India offers to its members.

Speaking about the new payment facility, Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Walmart India said, “This initiative reiterates our commitment to enable small businesses, especially kiranas, prosper. This payment solution will help our members spend more time with their customers & serve them better as they don’t have to step out of their stores to visit banks for making payments. With the expectation that the UPI system will boost online transactions, the initiative will certainly complement efforts to make India a digital economy.”

To use UPI payment mode, Walmart India Members can simply log on to www.bestprice.in or it’s Android Mobile App, add items to the cart & select UPI option to make payment. They just need to enter their unique UPI ID and accept payment on their mobile phone through UPI App. It is a faster & hassle free mode of payment transfer using smart phone across banks. Member can use any UPI ID which is issued by their bank, Government of India BHIM App or Google Tez which are linked with their banks. Payment confirmation happens instantaneously thereby helping in saving time of members & making their life simple.
