Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurates FTII’s Cinema Theatre cum Auditorium equipped with all modern features

Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Railways and Electronics and Information Technology Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw today inaugurated an Auditorium of Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. Shri Vaishnaw was on his first visit to Film and Television Institute of India, an autonomous Institute registered as Society under Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Shri Vaishnaw cut the ribbon and lighted the lamp with students.
Interacting with the students and faculty at the open forum after the inauguration, the Union Minister articulated his vision for taking FTII further ahead on the global stage. He said “our legacy and heritage provides a firm foundation to embark on the journey of further excellence”. Shri Vaishnaw fielded wide range of questions from the faculty and students and cleared various aspects of proposed deemed university status.
Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed his vision for the Cinema Education in the country. He emphasized on strengthening the career prospects of the students, greater linkage with the industry. He gave example of Gati Shakti Vishvavidyalaya which, in a short time, has become a key talent provider for the global players.
The Minister said that the new auditorium will not only be an invaluable strength for the pedagogy of FTII but will be a key presence on the rich cultural firmament of Pune.
The 586 seat auditorium equipped with all the modern features such as cinema projector, a PA system for stage performance and state of the art Dolby Atmos surround sound system. One of the auditorium’s most distinctive features is its innovative, horizontally movable screen, measuring 50 feet in width and 20 feet in height. This cutting-edge screen can be effortlessly adjusted using a remote control, allowing for seamless transformation of the auditorium into a cinema theatre. This pioneering feature is believed to be the first of its kind, setting a new standard for versatility and flexibility in auditorium design. FTII has already filed for a patent for this feature.
As part of the programme, Union Minister Shri Viahsnaw visited various facilities of the Institute and also interacted with the faculty. The Minister expressed his views about Creative Economy and remarked “with the talent and ecosystem of FTII we can become a bigger player ”
